Business-savvy Legal Services for
Tech Companies

Drawing from two decades as in-house counsel for global tech companies, I bring senior legal expertise to businesses through flexible consulting arrangements

How I can help

Contract Negotiations

Supporting all aspects of your commercial contract negotiations, including Master Subscription Agreements (MSAs), Services Agreements, Partner Agreements and Software Licenses, as well as regulatory addenda such as Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), EBA Guidelines and DORA, amongst others.

Contract Operations

Helping you develop a contract set-up that reduces business and cross-function friction. Whether it’s through developing templates which are truly aligned to the realities of your business, drafting better templates which are easier to negotiate with your customers or through contract playbooks, self-service hubs and other tools, setting up your contracting system in an optimal way will save you valuable time and resources.

Data privacy

Supporting all your UK and European privacy efforts, from navigating DPA negotiations with DPOs and privacy teams to helping you implement your GDPR (EU and UK) program. This includes developing DPAs tailored to your business, building processes, drafting policies, implementing a customised Privacy-by-Design program and providing tailored training to relevant employees with a view to empowering them with the knowledge they need for the purposes of their specific function.

International support

If you are expanding into the UK and Europe and need an experienced lawyer in-region but cannot justify the cost (or complications) of having a full-time employee there, a fractional arrangement is the best way to go.

Legal Strategy

If your legal function is fully operational but struggles to deliver the support your company requires, perhaps it’s time to get an objective third party involved to help figure out the issues at hand and find the lasting solutions which will make sense in the very particular context of your company.

Risk and compliance

Putting in place highly robust and stringent CSR and ESG policies is easily done, especially in the context of certain industries, but how do they translate to the real world and more specifically to tech companies? I can help you meet your compliance requirements while ensuring alignment with your contracts and your company’s risk profile.

Training

Providing tailored training on specific contractual or legal topics to relevant teams within your organisation can have a significant impact on your business, helping accelerate deal cycles and reduce risks.

Fractional GC

If your start-up needs the full breadth of support typically provided by a General Counsel but cannot yet justify the full expense that this entails, get started with a fractional arrangement, ensuring a level of expertise required by the job without the heavy expense involved in this key appointment.

Junior Legal Teams

If you are a start-up that has hired junior lawyers who do the basics well but need regular senior guidance, without having to rely on expensive external counsel, a fractional arrangement could be the ideal solution.

Productisation

As an early-stage start-up, you may have a game-changing solution but… what is it exactly? Software? A platform? A service?  I can help you frame and define your product to ensure that you commercialise it in the right way and operationalise your company accordingly, with a particular focus on the crucial component of developing an appropriate contract.

More about me

After qualifying as a solicitor in a City law firm in London, I spent most of my 20 year career as an in-house lawyer in the IT sector. Starting as a sole legal counsel for a joint venture between Japanese and German tech giants, I moved to the world’s premier video-conferencing provider before joining two successful SaaS start-ups, both leaders in their respective fields.

Through this journey, I became involved in supporting all legal aspects relating to the sale, development and compliance of infrastructure, outsourced managed services, professional services, and various “as-a-Service” solutions, including SaaS (Software-as-a-Service).

For the last 14 years of my in-house career, I was responsible for the EMEA and APAC territories, and for the last 6 years, working in the Cloud industry, I ran and lead legal functions covering these territories, also taking on the mantle of DPO (Data Protection Officer).

Through these roles I was deeply involved in commercial contract negotiations, operational matters (efficiency and process improvement), regulatory compliance (GDPR, EBA, DORA), ESG (human rights, environmental, sustainability), CSR (code of conduct, anti-bribery), security alignment and sales enablement.

Internally, this lead to working on day-to-day activities as well as strategic projects with the heads of every function, senior management and executives. Externally, it meant negotiating with 100s of companies across the world, including the largest multinationals, often in heavily regulated industries.

So what does this all mean?

I’m a highly experienced in-house counsel who has successfully tackled the plethora of challenges involved in selling tech on a global scale. Put a different way, I understand your business, the risks it involves, the obstacles it faces and how to overcome them.

I’ve achieved this as a pragmatic, commercially-minded, multilingual lawyer with an innate ability to build relationships and foster collaborative dialogue.

As of 2025, I have transitioned to a consultancy (or “fractional” or even “as-a-service”) model and now offer legal services to tech companies requiring the assistance of a lawyer with the experience, insight and skills I have developed over the years, without having to add an employee on their books.
